The Best Ways to Boost Your Darts Math

by GoSports

For some players who are lucky enough to have professional electronic machines to play on, darts is a game requiring little more than a skill in the sport. For the rest of us, there is a need for a constant struggle to keep a running mathematical tally in our heads.

Some people, those gifted with the types of brains which can easily calculate on the fly, see this as no issue. Most of us, however, are not so lucky.

While it is possible to carry a simple calculator tool or app around, the best way for players to overcome this problem is through simple practice. Of course, you can’t always get in a game of darts no matter where you are, so what other choices are available?

Daily Practice

One of the best ways to build the required level of mathematical skill is to use examples you come across in daily life. For example, consider any number you see which sits at 20 or under. Multiply that number by two and three, memorising each.

Then, randomly choose a number between 1-501 and subtract each of these scores in turn. Eventually, this will become second nature, and it can become a little game to keep you entertained at work or while out and about.

Unfortunately, this practice route is not always a possibility. Some of us cannot afford this form of mathematic distraction, either because we are too busy, because it can prove too much of a hindrance for our work, or because it is simply too much of a struggle.

Bridging Skills

One of the most common roadblocks in the way of learning maths comes from its unappealing nature. Few people actively enjoy doing equations in their heads, and this can mean that practising them on their own for a game is nothing approaching fun. This creates further problems due to the difficulties many of us have with learning unappealing subjects.

To combat this, our other suggestion would be to find something you do appreciate which uses mathematics and use this to trick your brain into learning a subject it might otherwise not enjoy.

One of the more common examples of this today can be found with online casino games. Many of the games on these casino websites, from slots to poker, roulette and many more, encourage the internalisation of maths to streamline the player’s experience. Keeping at It

Just as with consolidating any new skill, the first few steps can make the rest seem unpleasant or downright impossible. What players need to keep in mind is that a large quantity of this form of learning is unconscious. Keep at it, and your mind will begin building pathways to do the heavy lifting for you. It might seem impossible, but you shouldn’t underestimate just how much this element can help.

Practise a lit bit each day, or whenever you can, rest well, and you’ll be surprised at how far your skills in this field can grow.
